Image Archive of
Central Texas Plants
This site is administered as a part of the course website for BIO 406D (Native Plants of Central Texas), a course given every semester at the University of Texas at Austin. This page contains links to digital images of central Texas plants, arranged by scientific name. The following list of names is alphabetized first by family name, and then by species name. Nomenclature mainly follows that of Shinners and Mahler's Illustrated Flora of North Central Texas. When nomenclature on this page differs from that of Shinners and Mahler's, the name used in Shinners and Mahler's is indicated in parentheses for reference. Monocot familial nomenclature follows that of the upcoming Vol. 1 of the Illustrated Flora of East Texas.
When you click on a species name, the plant pictures will appear in a new window. Some species have several images, so please be patient.
This list is updated and enlarged periodically, so come back and visit from time to time to see if anything new has been added! We currently have links for 359 species of central Texas plants.
