habit in late Spring--Ipomopsis rubra is a rather tall biennial.  What does biennial mean?  How old must this individual be? flowers--are the petals free or fused?  Notice the long corolla tube, exserted stamens (meaning they stick out of the corolla tube), and the red color--what might pollinate this species?
flower up close--do you see the forked stigma and narrow sepal lobes? young, developing fruits (capsules)--notice the persistent calyx and the old styles

 
leaves--Ipomopsis rubra has dissected leaves.  What kind of habitat would you expect it to normally occupy with such leaves?
