Research interests
I study the day-to-day activities of the Whiteley Lab. A lab is very much like an organism in that is consumes nutrients, expels wastes, replicates and gathers new information. Since experiments need fuel in the forms of tools, dishes, equipment, and media, some experiments may experience slow growth if any of these 'nutrients' are missing. Currently, I am interested in developing energy-efficient ways to satisfy the Lab's consumption requirements and detecting experiment inhibitors.
Personal descriptionI received my B.S. from The University of Texas at Austin where I studied microbiology and anthropology. I have worked as an Undergraduate Laboratory Assistant for both Bio205L teaching lab and the Media Kitchen before joining the Whiteley Lab as their Jackie-of-all-trades Laboratory Technician. Being of the gnomish persuasion, my hobbies include crafting, reading, and tromping through wooded areas.
