Joining the lab

Postdoctoral fellow opening in the Ochman lab.

General Notes

PhD must have been received within the past 3 years. This is a temporary training position that can be renewed annually, for a maximum of two years, based upon performance review, progress towards research goals, and continuation of funding.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and conduct and independent research project appropriate to the laboratory’s goals and activities.
  • Perform computational analysis of large-scale datasets.
  • Prepare manuscripts, publish and communicate research results.
  • Attend, contribute to and present in weekly journal clubs and lab meetings.
  • Manage and direct activities of research technicians and undergraduate researchers.

Preferred Qualifications

Expertise in microbiology, molecular genetics and recombinant DNA techniques. Proficient at analysis of large-scale genomics and metagenomic datasets using established methods, and in developing new computational pipelines. Experience in all aspects related to the preparation of scientific manuscripts for publication.
