UTEX presents 2-day intensive workshops for individuals interested the principles and/or practices of growing and managing algal cultures. Each workshop will include a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 8 individuals. These workshops are designed for novices and for those who have some experience working with microbial cultures.

Cost:
The total charge is $600 per participant for the two-day workshop. A non-refundable $100 deposit per spot in the workshop is due at the time of registration. Payment in full is expected 10 business days prior to the start of the workshop. A $375 refund will be provided for cancellations 48 hr or more prior to the start of the workshop. Participants are responsible for their own transportation and living expenses. UTEX personnel may be able to assist in locating a suitable nearby hotel.

1:15 Use of the optical microscope for observing algae
2:30 Structural features and chemical components of algal cells
3:30 Recognition and elimination of contaminants
Day 2: 8:30 am – 4:00 pm
9:00 Introduction to algal taxonomy
11:00 Scaling up
12:00 Lunch
1:30 Measuring algal growth kinetics
3:00 Optional, as requested by visitors
