Fig. 9.3-1. Transverse section of stem of parsnip (Pastinaca). This low magnification view shows the cortex with a broad band of collenchyma and three small secretory ducts. The ducts can occur in the ordinary cortex parenchyma as shown here, and also in collenchyma itself as well as in the phloem of the vascular bundles. The ducts are shown in higher magnification in the next figure.
