This micrograph is a low magnification view to help you get oriented for the
following high magnification views of the same apex. The arrows mark the boundary
between the root proper and the root cap. Cells in the center of the
root cap are in a rather orderly arrangement, almost aligned in rows; this
region is known as the columella.
