Ichthy@lists.cc.utexas.edu - a discussion list for BIO354L - Ichthyology

A discussion list has been created to facilitate communications between instructors and students. It will be used for announcements about the class and field trips, and may be used by students with questions or comments about any aspect of the class that might be of interest to other students.

Students should subscribe to Ichthy@lists.cc.utexas.edu at an early date. Doing so will provide the instructors with your e-mail address, and students subscribed to the list will then also have access to the list of subscribers should they ever have need of e-mail addresses of classmates. (Note, however, that should you wish to hide your e-mail address from the subscription list, this option is available. Hiding your address will hide it from all subscribers except the list owners, Dr. Hendrickson and the T.A.). See the UT list documentation to learn how to do this, and to learn other ways that the list might be useful to you.

To subscribe to the Ichthy list, send an e-mail from the address by which you wish to be subscribed to "listproc@lists.cc.utexas.edu". This message should contain only the following text:

subscribe ichthy firstname lastname

Replace "firstname lastname" with your own first and last names. You will soon receive a message from the server notifying that you have been subscribed. The message will provide basic instructions regarding how to use the list and will provide links to additional information on the WWW.

Once you are subscribed, any message you send to the address "ichthy@lists.cc.utexas.edu" will be sent to all subscribers to the list (including instructors). If you wish to communicate directly to either Dr. Hendrickson or the T.A., without your message being seen by the entire class, send your message directly to either Dr. Hendrickson at deanhend@mail.utexas.edu or to Ray Engeszer (rayeng@mail.utexas.edu). Note also that any reply to a message posted to the list will, by default, be directed back to the entire list. Change the address in the "To:" field of your reply if you wish it to go anywhere but to the entire list.
